Verum Timber originates from Thomas Van Noten’s strong interest in craftsmanship and inventive making. We work closely with leading sawmills to source our material directly from the origin. This gives us access to high-quality hardwoods and rare solid woods such as steamed cherry, poplar burl, walnut burl, and more. Each timber is carefully dried before we begin production. With Verum Timber, we aim to make design accessible through a formal language that subtly highlights the ingenuity of each object — sculpted both by machine and by hand.
Technique
Each object begins from a three-dimensional perspective: we have access to 5-axis CNC machines and 5-axis lathes. These technologies allow us to work with extreme precision and to achieve details that are difficult or even impossible to create by hand. We aim to create an aesthetic language that merges technical mastery with material sensitivity, allowing complex forms to emerge naturally from the production process.
Maloof joints, or any other complex joinery, become not only possible but repeatable with a high degree of accuracy.
