ABOUT

Driven by curiosity, Thomas Van Noten moves through exploration — engaging with new influences, processes, and human interaction. TOGIGI is his studio, a space where experimentation is used as a tool to develop techniques and to shape objects that derive meaning through context. We begin by developing concepts — and from these, objects emerge.

Innovation engages with craftsmanship as we explore the boundaries of traditional and contemporary methods. Materials are sourced from our surroundings and tested through direct interaction — often shaped by nature or by what contradicts it.

BIO

Thomas Van Noten (b. 1990) is a Belgian artist and designer with a background in engineering and construction. At 28, he shifted away from the structured world of building to pursue a self-taught path into craftsmanship — beginning in Mexico, working alongside local carpenters in the region of Mexico City. What started as a focus on carpentry evolved into a broader investigation of making, shaped by movement across borders and exchanges between cultures and disciplines.

His practice is driven by research and process, unfolding through material, gesture, and human interaction. In 2024, he founded TOGIGI — a studio where experimentation, technique, and cultural context come together in an ongoing exploration.
